Unieke Avonturen Jacht Expedities Ontdek De Numinous Wie Zijn Wij EN PT NL Home - De Numinous - Skiën Dolce Vita-Manier van Skiën Oktober-2023 Behalve dat dit één van de favoriete skibestemmingen van onze oprichters is, keerde onze medeoprichter Jasper Sigon afgelopen Januari 2023 terug naar het geweldige skigebied Super Dolomiti. Samen met het geweldige team van het merk Alta Badia hebben we een gastronomische safari gecombineerd met episch skiën. Het volgende verhaal is door Jasper zelf geschreven om zijn eigen ervaringen te delen en je te inspireren voor het volgende seizoen. Na een verkwikkend ontbijt in onze accommodatie, het prachtige La Majun Hotel, verzamelden we de skiuitrusting om de berg in La Villa op te gaan. Na een goede warming-up bergafwaarts op de zwarte piste bij LaVila zijn we begonnen met skiën van de ene geweldige afdaling naar de andere, elk met ieder zijn eigen adembenemende uitzichten over de Dolomieten, van de ene hut naar de volgende om de nieuwe gerechten te proeven van lokale en internationaal gerenommeerde chef-koks, zoals Norbert Niederkofler (Executive Chef bij Restaurant St.Hubertus bij Hotel Rosa Alpina, 3 Michelin-sterren en 1 groene ster), en Simone Cantafio (Restaurant La Stüa de Michil bij Hotel La Perla, 1 Michelin-ster). Ze brachten werkelijk uitmuntende gerechten naar de hellingen van Alta Badia op een hoogte van 2.000 meter, geïnspireerd door de beste producten uit de regio en hun eigen filosofie in de keuken. Er werden ware kunstwerken gepresenteerd, niet alleen voor de smaakpapillen, maar ook voor het oog. Om het nog indrukwekkender te maken, creëerden de chef-koks hun gerechten met de nadruk op het verminderen van afval en het beschermen van onze planeet. Bovendien werd bij elk gerecht een Zuid-Tiroolse wijn geserveerd, uitgekozen door hun Zuid-Tiroolse sommelier. De volgende dag gingen we vroeg op pad en gingen we met een sneeuwscooter naar boven om te ontbijten op 2.000 meter hoogte in de Las Vegas lodge. Waar we getuige waren van de prachtige zons opkomst tegen het massief van de Dolomieten, dit was werkelijk een gedenkwaardig en uniek uitzicht. Daarna kregen we gezelschap van Damian Pallestrong, een lokale professionele slalom, alpine en langlaufer uit Alta Badia. Na een korte briefing begonnen we aan de Great War Ski Tour, die zich over 80 km uitstrekt, om enkele van de dramatische gebeurtenissen uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog (WWI) te ontdekken. We gingen naar Cortina d’Ampezzo om de Super 8 en de Cinque Torri lus te skiën, omringd door het prachtige uitzicht op de Col di Lana, de Tofana di Rozes, de Castelletto en de Col dei Bos. Damian legde ons de Italiaanse loopgraven uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog uit en liet ons zien hoe strategisch belangrijk de Dolomieten waren en nog steeds zijn. Wist je dat de technische term Alpineskiër afkomstig is uit de Ladinische cultuur? En vandaag de dag zijn het nog steeds geboren alpine-en langlaufers! Daarna gingen we naar het hart van de Dolomieten, één van de hoogste pieken in de regio Alta Badia, de berg Lagazuoi op 2.732 meter. Op weg naar boven met de kabelbaan konden we duidelijk de schutters gaten zien van de Italiaanse mijntunnel en het Tre Sassi Fort op de weg naar de Valparola pas. Toen we op de top aankwamen, sloegen we direct buiten de piste rechts af naar de Oostenrijkse opstelling Feldwache 4 (FW 4), de enige opstelling aan de frontlinie van de Eerste Wereldoorlog die allen op ski's kon worden bereikt. Het werd in de bergkam gegraven en door de Italianen Muraglia Rocciosa genoemd; een rotsmuur versterkt door de Oostenrijks-Hongaarse soldaten om het Lagazuoi-zadel te verdedigen. Deze opstelling is een tunnel die in de rots is gegraven met twee gepantserde opstellingen voor machinegeweren en twee schietgaten voor observatie van de gebieden Col dei Bos en Castelletto. Na deze verbluffende ervaring daalden we af naar de Armentarola-helling om verder te gaan met een van de meest verbluffende omgevingen van de Dolomieten. De volgende dag werden we vergezeld door het Alta Badia-team en was het tijd voor de “Sommelier op de pistes skitour”. Toen we uit de gondel stapten, ontmoetten we een skileraar en professionele sommelier. Na een korte routebeschrijving vertrokken we van de ene verstopte skihut op de pistes naar de andere skihut. Van top wijn tot top wijn, een echte wijn ski safari of in het Ladinisch, De dl Vin. Echt betoverend skiën op de hellingen van Alta Badia, gecombineerd met de kans om de beste wijnen van Zuid-Tirol te proeven in de meest opmerkelijke berghutten, zoals Ütia de Bioch, Club Moritzino, Ütia I Tablá, Ütia Las Vegas Lodge, Ütia Lé, Ütia Tamá en Ütia Pic Pré. Learning to travel mindful and more responsibly will reduce our direct impact on the environment and ecological diversities. We truly believe that, as travel specialists, we have an increased responsibility to communicate to our consumers how to implement responsible practices. Our vacations, adventures and expeditions are hand-crafted by us taking in consideration good practices and giving great opportunities to learn, develop and thrust frontiers of responsible travel experiences. In Jasper Sigon’s own words when it comes to his adventures, “For me personal, my journey starts with the goal of integrate myself into new cultures and traditions or learning a new skill set.” It should not be crossing a checklist, but instead focus on the experience, strive to educate yourself and become well informed and create a responsibility for wildlife, ecological conservations and cultures of our beautiful planet and at the end pass it to the others - that’s the ultimate goal. Therefore, we have put together the following guidelines to see how we create a positive impact on responsible travel as new or experienced adventures. Research travel organizations that pursue responsible travel as a core value We try to implement responsible practices to our journeys and adventures, considering the emissions caused by flights, vehicles, marine voyages and accommodation stays. We try to reduce and optimize at the source, calculating our footprint and supporting habitat conservation and restoration projects around the world. Plan Responsible Journeys Avoid mass tourism destinations that are highly frequently visited. This is the first purposeful decision to make in your journeys towards a responsible travel. We always research destinations that most of the times are “below the radar”, and maybe even closure to home than you can possibly think, enabling us to travel to remote parts of the planet with a reduced impact on ecological diversities. Extend your travelling Extending your journey provides the opportunity to involve yourself in a destination’s culture and traditions. This creates a connection with the place you are visiting, rather spending your time in short periods in multiple destinations. Create a feeling that you belong somewhere just as home. Travel a bit slower A concept we indulge is an elegant and tender journey through a country or a region that allows you to interact with its culture and lets you understand your surroundings. The increase for environmentally friendly transport makes it easier than ever to travel a bit slower, for example by train or boat by an extraordinary network of historical tracks and rivers, specially through Europe. Smart packing Reducing the consumption of plastic goods is already a huge step, but by packing your luggage with only your necessary for your journey you are able to reduce your waste, try to use reusables such as the reusable water bottles that you can refill throughout your journey. Eco-valuable accommodations When we are planning a journey, we perform an extensive research to the properties and accommodations we provide, we pay attention to their location and how they contribute to their local communities. Another part we do in supporting the local community, is introducing our clients to the local chefs that transform their local products in culinary highlights. Unique Excursions that support the local economy We strive to make sure we work together with local specialists and companies that contribute to the local economy. From our experience this is also the best way to provide an understanding and appreciation of the region and landscapes you are visiting, alongside those that know their surroundings the best. Support local charities Combining our journeys with the support to local charities is the ultimate way to learn about the challenges faced by the local populations. By helping them to overcome these challenges is one of the most impactful things we can do during a journey. By dedicating a bit of our time and expertise together with local organisations we can put the focus even more on conservation and environmental protection, teaching and discussing awareness about its wildlife can result in such a deep impact to protect the natural world for the next generation to come. Think about interaction with wildlife outside their natural surroundings The most impactful choice you can make as a traveller is to be aware of how you interact with wildlife and do not support organisations that use wildlife for human entertainment. We do not support sanctuaries and zoos that cause harm and trauma to animals. We highly advise against support of any type to organisation that promote riding elephants, taking pictures or walking with tigers and lions in cages, swimming with captive dolphins, or keeping wildlife for human entertainment. We have an obligation to be the voice for those that cannot talk our language and to stand for the welfare of any animal.
