Aventuras Únicas Expedições de Iate Explore Comunicações Sobre Nós EN PT NL Início - Comunicações - Travelling Responsible Travelling Responsible January-2020 We put together 10 important guidelines for being a responsible experiential travel and making attentive choices in every aspect of your own adventure. Responsible travel can be achieved by being responsible and making the correct choices. Learning to travel mindful and more responsibly will reduce our direct impact on the environment and ecological diversities. We truly believe that, as travel specialists, we have an increased responsibility to communicate to our consumers how to implement responsible practices. Our vacations, adventures and expeditions are hand-crafted by us taking in consideration good practices and giving great opportunities to learn, develop and thrust frontiers of responsible travel experiences. In Jasper Sigon’s own words when it comes to his adventures, “For me personal, my journey starts with the goal of integrate myself into new cultures and traditions or learning a new skill set.” It should not be crossing a checklist, but instead focus on the experience, strive to educate yourself and become well informed and create a responsibility for wildlife, ecological conservations and cultures of our beautiful planet and at the end pass it to the others - that’s the ultimate goal. Therefore, we have put together the following guidelines to see how we create a positive impact on responsible travel as new or experienced adventures. Research travel organizations that pursue responsible travel as a core value We try to implement responsible practices to our journeys and adventures, considering the emissions caused by flights, vehicles, marine voyages and accommodation stays. We try to reduce and optimize at the source, calculating our footprint and supporting habitat conservation and restoration projects around the world. Plan Responsible Journeys Avoid mass tourism destinations that are highly frequently visited. This is the first purposeful decision to make in your journeys towards a responsible travel. We always research destinations that most of the times are “below the radar”, and maybe even closure to home than you can possibly think, enabling us to travel to remote parts of the planet with a reduced impact on ecological diversities. Extend your travelling Extending your journey provides the opportunity to involve yourself in a destination’s culture and traditions. This creates a connection with the place you are visiting, rather spending your time in short periods in multiple destinations. Create a feeling that you belong somewhere just as home. Travel a bit slower A concept we indulge is an elegant and tender journey through a country or a region that allows you to interact with its culture and lets you understand your surroundings. The increase for environmentally friendly transport makes it easier than ever to travel a bit slower, for example by train or boat by an extraordinary network of historical tracks and rivers, specially through Europe. Smart packing Reducing the consumption of plastic goods is already a huge step, but by packing your luggage with only your necessary for your journey you are able to reduce your waste, try to use reusables such as the reusable water bottles that you can refill throughout your journey. Eco-valuable accommodations When we are planning a journey, we perform an extensive research to the properties and accommodations we provide, we pay attention to their location and how they contribute to their local communities. Another part we do in supporting the local community, is introducing our clients to the local chefs that transform their local products in culinary highlights. Unique Excursions that support the local economy We strive to make sure we work together with local specialists and companies that contribute to the local economy. From our experience this is also the best way to provide an understanding and appreciation of the region and landscapes you are visiting, alongside those that know their surroundings the best. Support local charities Combining our journeys with the support to local charities is the ultimate way to learn about the challenges faced by the local populations. By helping them to overcome these challenges is one of the most impactful things we can do during a journey. By dedicating a bit of our time and expertise together with local organisations we can put the focus even more on conservation and environmental protection, teaching and discussing awareness about its wildlife can result in such a deep impact to protect the natural world for the next generation to come. Think about interaction with wildlife outside their natural surroundings The most impactful choice you can make as a traveller is to be aware of how you interact with wildlife and do not support organisations that use wildlife for human entertainment. We do not support sanctuaries and zoos that cause harm and trauma to animals. We highly advise against support of any type to organisation that promote riding elephants, taking pictures or walking with tigers and lions in cages, swimming with captive dolphins, or keeping wildlife for human entertainment. We have an obligation to be the voice for those that cannot talk our language and to stand for the welfare of any animal. It is our responsibility to do our background research in supporting any organisation that cares about the health, welfare and future of our wildlife and ecological diversities around the globe. < Previous Article Next Article > RNAVT 7818 Empresa registada em Portugal Política de Privacidade Termos e Condições > Contacte-nos info@voyagesjourneys.com +351 917 800 008

Home - V&J in Press - Masters Expo Masters Expo February-2021 His goal? To let people discover the exceptional planet and create everlasting memories. - Mical Joseph - Each week a unique MASTERS Member is highlighted. A MASTERS Member is a member of MASTERS League. Jasper Sigon is the Co-founder of Voyages & Journey. He devises customized travel concepts for the high-end and executes them from A to Z. His goal? To let people discover the exceptional planet and create everlasting memories. Voyages & Journeys In late 2018, Jasper and his associate launched the exclusive travel agency Voyages & Journeys. Focused on the upper segment, he creates the most beautiful and exclusive tailor-made trips. He lets people discover the world in a sustainable and responsible way. Everything is arranged from A to Z: from a special safari in South Africa to heliskiing in Greenland, nothing is too crazy for them. "When a client approaches us, I first build a relationship of trust. Based on all the ideas and wishes that the client has indicated beforehand, I make three concepts. I present those concepts to the client and one concept comes out of that. Then our strengths emerge: my partner and I can also travel with the customer(s)," said Jasper. Unlike regular travel agencies, at Voyages & Journeys it doesn't stop immediately after conceiving and planning the trip, because Jasper and his partner continue until the best result is achieved. Best of the Best Over the years, Voyages & Journeys has had the opportunity to work closely with conservationists, biologists and naturalists. This has allowed exploration of the most undiscovered and ecologically diverse destinations around the world. On each trip, attention is paid to the smallest details to provide a unique perspective on biodiversity, wildlife, culture and traditions. MASTERS League "At the beginning of 2021, I joined the MASTERS League. I have been visiting MASTERS EXPO since 2017. A few weeks back I got the opportunity to join the League because the whole concept, the look and the accessibility attract me a lot. I had been looking to join something similar for a while. Especially to share my drive with other people and entrepreneurs I just find very interesting." »»» For the original publication click here ««« < Previous Article Next Article >

- Chile | Voyages & Journeys
Home - Unique Adventures - Chile Chile Laughter is the language of the soul. - Pablo Neruda - From the North to the South, this is a country of extremes, located between the Pacific coast, the Andes Mountain and an abundance of beautiful natural attractions. Chile is a destination that withholds extraordinary contrasts with dramatic landscapes that vary from the world’s driest and empty Atacama Desert, in the North, to the wine region just below the bustling city of Santiago, the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonian in the south, the fertile valleys, the forests as old as time in the national park Villarrica, and to the temperamental volcanoes and unspoilt beaches and the grand Chiloe Island. These regions are set along the incredible geography of Chile, which is a wonder in itself. Santiago is the perfect cosmopolitan base to kick off exploring the rest of Chile. Not-to-be-missed is a memorable adventure through Chile’s flourishing Wine Country, a mecca for wine enthusiasts and culture lovers alike. Head to the famous Maipo and Colchagua Valley’s to fully unwind after your travels. Stay at an avant-garde vineyard retreat situated on a hilltop, that boasts majestic views over the Chilean valleys and gorges stretching towards the craggy heights of the Andes Mountains in the background. Enjoy the delicious meals served in a variety of settings, from the indoor dining room to the expansive outdoor terraces that look out onto the valley, lake, and vineyard or even outdoors in a private mountain grove. Authentic South American cuisine includes traditional barbeques, as well as fresh fish and seafood. Toast your love with private wine tastings and guided winery tours through the Aconcagua, Casablanca, Colchagua, San Antonio-Leyda, Maipo, Cachapoal, Curico and Maule Valleys and explore the spectacular landscapes on a horseback ride or private transfer. The northern part of Chile encompasses the dramatic lunar landscapes of the driest desert on Earth - Atacama. A landmark of the El Norte Grande, the Atacama Desert boasts an incredible landscape of ragged, Rocky Mountains and ravines that are interspersed by a striking white salt pan and surrounded by towering volcanoes. It is a photographer’s dream destination. As the world’s driest desert, the immense Atacama lives up to its title, with some areas registering not even a single raindrop in over 150 years. Sitting at an altitude of 3500m, the dramatic and desolate Atacama Desert boasts clear, unpolluted skies that allow for the most incredible, unforgettable stargazing. Named by Dutch naval commander Jacob Roggeveen on Easter Sunday in 1722, Easter Island has a colourful history. Easter Island or Rapa Nui, as it is known to locals, is a Chilean territory in Polynesia. It was also where Captain Cook and his crew recuperated during one of his many explorations and were in 1805. As the world's most remote inhabited island in the mid-Pacific Ocean, more than 3000 mk from mainland Chile, there are many myths and history. The existence of the 900 gigantic monolithic 'moai' statues, dating back to the 10th century, has long puzzled historians. It has one of the most famous national parks, the Parque Nacional Rapa Nui, which covers most of the island and features the quarry of Rano Raraku where the moai were carved: the volcanic crater of the Rano Kau and the Ahu Tongariki, where 15 moai rest. The deep crystalline waters - the clearest in the world, a true temptation for any sea lover. Travel further south and discover the unspoilt countryside of the Lake District with 12 large deep blue lakes backed by snow-capped volcanoes, within the rainforests gracing the surrounding national parks, evergreen Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle) trees, some over 1 000 years old, stand tall. This region is both the gateway to Patagonia, and a thrilling adventure haven. Glacial lakes mirror the frosted tips of dormant volcanoes and the verdant flora of nearby national parks. Stretching over 300 kilometres, this region was once the homeland of the courageous Mapuche people who fought off the advances of Inca and Spanish invaders. It has since grown from thriving farmlands into the tranquil tourist mecca it is today. When visiting this beautiful region, you will be treated to sensational views and landscapes as well as exceptional activities such as horse riding, hiking, mountain climbing, nature walks and water sports. Continue to the “end of the world” - it has been over 500 years after the arrival of the first European seafarers in Patagonia, the words to describe it are the same: exotic, faraway, vast, infinitely beautiful, wild, and indomitable. Home to Chile’s iconic Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, renowned for its rugged horn-shaped peaks of the Cuernos del Paine. The immensity of the ice floes, the majesty of the mountains and the expanse of the lakes are a constant source of wonderment. The Torres del Paine National Park’s habitat blends together a wide array of ecosystems, making it a treasure for Chilean wildlife. Discover the wild side of Patagonia, join your expert naturalist guide in search of some of the most famous animals and birds of this area, from the elusive puma, foxes, ñandues (South American ostrich), and guanacos, to the impressive condors. Not only does this region feature a rich entanglement of temperate rainforests and mountain ranges that stretch across the horizon, but it is also the official gateway to Antarctica, the earth’s southernmost continent. - Suiderlicht in Tasmanië | Voyages & Journeys
Unieke Avonturen Jacht Expedities Ontdek De Numinous Wie Zijn Wij EN PT NL Home - Unieke Avonturen - Suiderlicht Suiderlicht in Tasmanië The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts. Aventuras Únicas Expedições de Iate Explore Comunicações Sobre Nós EN PT NL Início - Comunicações - Why Travel with V&J Why work with a travel specialist like V&J August-2023 “My background was far from being in the travel business. Let stand my knowledge around the industry, and, definitely, I didn’t understand the major value of using a travel specialist. Most of the times I was under the impression that I could do it myself, like most of the travellers. However, I soon came to realize that everyone can incredibly benefit from working with a travel specialist, to really take our travels to the next level when planning a vacation that doesn’t fail to impress.” – Jasper Sigon Even when you are a saturated traveller, these are 6 benefits you will experience travelling with Voyages & Journeys: It needs to be valuable Luxury is not about the price, but about value - what you feel that you have gained from the experience. V&J was created from many personal experiences and one of the main purposes is to create extra value to our Guests. We provide a service that goes beyond anything you have experienced in working with travel advisors. Forget about standing in lines, the stress when a flight is cancelled, or when (often) something happens during the vacation. We take care of every tiny detail to fully optimise your time off, before, during and after your travels, and we bring new life into the concept. For example, we do not provide, as we like to call, “blue screen itineraries” that are not thought for individual needs. We design itineraries completely from the ground up that are fully aligned with your requirements and wishes. By doing this, we can build a trustworthy relationship with our Guests and that is one of the most important factors. Like this, you know exactly who we are and how we operate and while we design your itinerary, we can take every tiny personal detail into consideration, such as travel style, likes, dislikes, peeves, hobbies, etc. Every tiny detail will be fully tailormade for your needs. Traveling with V&J also brings you a lot of little extras, such as our V&J travel box, upgrades to higher room categories (depending on availability), a welcome amenity, VIP treatment, early and late checkout (if available) for very early arriving or late departing flight without having to pay an extra night, among others. Explore with Purpose Besides our passion for travelling and exploring the unknown, our love for learning about other cultures, traditions, and their history is the main reason we founded V&J. Then again, the core of our ethos is that, with every itinerary or high octane levelled adventure we create, we really strive to make a difference. When you travel with V&J you are directly supporting the global eco-systems. How? When we finalize your travel itinerary, we combine the exceptional experiences we have created with local conservation projects, providing a unique insider access and experience about the destination you are visiting, such as, walk on patrols with antipoaching units and K9 units, following wildlife rangers, or visiting wildlife orphanages sanctuaries and rescue centres that protect the wildlife and their environment with their own life. With your visit you are directly supporting a conservation project, and in parallel we take a percentage from our earnings and donate it to that same conservation project. We try to select projects that fit with the theme of your journey – for instance, if you journey by sea, we will try to match it with an ocean conservation project. We create remarkable journeys and private events among the most exceptional destinations, bachelor parties, birthdays, honeymoons, family reunions, a break with friends, or any other adventure. Nevertheless, we never neglect the ethics of travelling, the impact on the local community and environment. Leaving a positive impact with your presence is what we can define as responsible travel. Through the last years we build a unique network of wildlife scientists, veterinarians, rangers, wildlife photographers and conservation projects that are experts in handling wildlife, so that you can interact with them on a way that you have never imagined before, and in a safe manner, creating truly life changing experiences. Optimise your time off Planning the journey you have always dreamed about or just a short weekend break, a special celebration or family reunion can take from 20 up to 100 hours of planning or more. You will always spend a lot of time asking advice or nights and weekends scrolling through reviews wondering if the people who reviewed are even like you at all. Then after you decide which accommodation you are staying; you still need to plan all the details around activities and how to get point to point most efficiently. As seasoned travellers (we have been to more than 70 countries across 6 continents) and as travel specialists we can guaranty you that we do this more efficiently. With the local knowledge and industry partners that are pioneers in their own field we can guarantee a worry-free journey with the comfort and luxury you are used to. You consult an accountant when you need help with your money. A lawyer when you need help with legal issues. Consult a travel specialist to plan your vacation and build your experience portfolio. Service that goes beyond what you are used to When we travel ourselves, whether domestic or international, the one thing we are immeasurably annoyed by is bad service, be it during a transfer, at a cafeteria, in the plane, restaurant, or anywhere else. These days it is hard to find good valuable service for the money you pay. This is an experience we try to prevent during your travels! We spend an average of 10 hours per week on research and development for our products. What does this mean? It means that we do not work with every provider, because we really research each facet of our daily operations with “military precision” and diligence. Each partner we work goes through a process, from an accommodation, yacht, tour providers, to aviation or private airplanes. If something goes wrong during your travels, or not exactly accordingly to plan, we can act directly and ensure that everything is taken care so that you do not have to worry and can focus on what is really needed – enjoy! We can provide this only because of our personal relationship with each partner and reputation of our company. For those who care about the details, relationships are the mostimportant factor. Experiences that will change your perspective Another good reason to travel with V&J is that we are on the cutting edge of the latest global travel trends, and most of the times we even know before its launched or announced to the public. One of our daily routines is to research the upcoming travel trends, such as openings of unique lodges and boutique hotels or extreme remote camps or extraordinary experiences that really provide you an inside access like no other. We are in constant contact with journalists, tourism boards, conservation projects, tour providers, accommodations, yacht owners, builders and brokers and other advisors across the globe. We also travel constantly in search for those, off-the-beaten path destinations, and insider experiences that cannot be found online. We check out the latest and newest ourselves as a kind of “mystery guests”, meaning that there is no previous announcement to the accommodations, tour providers, and others, that a representative of Voyages & Journeys is arriving. Like this, we can experience everything ourselves like a customer and create a clear inventory of what to expect and what to prevent before we put it on the portfolio to provide it to you. We live and breathe travel all day long and have access to proprietary sources of knowledge that you simply cannot find online. Through us, you can also be the first to know about new experiences, like exclusive restaurant experiences, popular sporting events or very rare and unique activities. Risk assessment & emergency response There are so many facets that can go wrong during your travels. Such as: lost luggage, cancelled or delayed flight, bad weather, unlucky accidents, evacuations for any reason and let’s not even mention something like Covid-19. We feel as if it is our responsibility and duty as your travel specialist to prevent and keep these obstacles to a minimum or respond to them without any delay or hesitations, and we take it very personal. We check and take care of every tiny detail, passport expiration dates, needed vaccinations, permits and all the fine print that comes with your itinerary. In 2021, we developed one of the most exceptional bicycle routes to date. It started in the Netherlands and ended in the South of Spain, spread over 2.700 km in 35 days, included more than 20 Michelin-Star restaurants, wine tastings, private excursions, and 32 accommodations that belong to the best in Europe. Two weeks before the start, one of the Guests needed an emergency operation. We postponed and rescheduled everything for 6 weeks later without any detail being difference and without adding any extra cost. We always advise to secure every reservation with a cancelation option. But if something strikes your destination a day before you take off, we will be negotiating on your behalf to minimize your cancellation losses or to see how we can reschedule the entire itinerary to another period. Because we are a trusted partner of Global Rescue, we can also advise the best and most inclusive travel insurance in the world, if a war or a virus breaks out, you have a serious accident on the most remote locations while climbing, diving, etc, we can activate immediately evacuations or medical evacuations on military level around the globe. If an insurance of that level is not needed, we ca assist you to specify which travel insurance coverage you should look for. When you travel with Voyages & Journeys, you are protecting your travel investment. If you want to learn more about the benefits of travelling or working with V&J, we can schedule a video or normal call. - Talkies Man Magazine
Home - V&J in Press - Talkies Man Magazine Talkies Man Magazine April-2023 Als travel curatoren stellen zij zorgvuldig op maat gemaakte reizen samen voor uiteenlopende cliënten. ‘In feite zijn out of the box aanvragen onze specialiteit. We organiseren veel jachtexpedities. < Previous Article Next Article >
- REV Ocean is on a Mission | Voyages & Journeys
Home - The Numinous - REV Ocean REV Ocean is on a Mission November-2020 How to define REV Ocean REV Ocean is a 183 meters state-of-the-art expedition superyacht that will be committed to pioneering the world for oceanographic research. She will be equipped with specialized scientific equipment never seen before on a superyacht. Onboard you will find eight cutting-edge research laboratories, a fully equipped dive centre and a crane attached to a trawl that will enable her to catch pelagic samples on a responsible and safe way and release the samples 3000 metres below sea level. She will be equipped with a highly advanced range of submersibles, both autonomous and remotely operated, for extreme underwater exploration. They will be easy to launch and to recover via a 7.7 x 5 meters opening in the hull known as a Moonpool. Alongside the research space, which equates to roughly 15 tennis courts, she will have all the amenities that yacht charter guests would expect on a yacht of this calibre, including three pool areas, well-equipped gym facilities and a spa and wellness zone. There will be a 36-person auditorium on board, plus 2 helipads, an on-board helicopter and its own hangar. The force behind REV Ocean Kjell Inge Røkke is the owner and driving force behind REV Ocean. Røkke grew up close to the VARD shipyard in the little fishing town of Brattvag where currently the REV Ocean is going through her final assembly. He learned to fish in the Norwegian waters and began his career as a deckhand on board a fishing trawler in Alaska. He launched his business career with the purchase of a 21 meters trawler in the United States in 1982, and gradually built a leading worldwide fisheries business owning his own fleet of fishing vessels and American Seafoods company. He became the largest stakeholder in Aker ASA and serves as chairman of Aker ASA, as well as a director of Aker BP, Kværner, Ocean Yield, Aker BioMarine and Aker Energy. Røkke's family has lived for many years in Molde, a small town just across the water from Brattvag and he is a well-known member of the local community. Juuni Vatne, Marketing Coordinator at VARD shipyard, commented: “I think it’s a lot of pride to be here, back home, to build this vessel.” The vision of REV Ocean Mr. Røkke’s motivation to construct and fund REV Ocean comes from a lifelong reliance on the ocean. Fishing is how he initially made his fortune; and now it’s time to give back. Building REV Ocean is philanthropy in its finest form. Also, with REV Ocean he wants to encourage yacht owners go down a similar route, then his legacy will live on for decades to come. Fishing is a vital profession to Norway’s economy as a whole, with fish being one of the country’s largest exports. Norway is leading the way in the fight against climate change, with the country listed among the greenest on the planet and the second-most eco-friendly country in the world. There is an impressive team to helm the REV Ocean research team. Nina Jensen, the former head of the World Wide Fund for Nature in Norway, has been appointed the Chief Executive of REV Ocean and Oxford University's leading marine conservation scientist Alex Rogers has joined the team as Science Director. Creating the opportunity to give back REV Ocean's primary function is oceanographic research and analysis. For many research teams and scientists, the cost of hiring research vessels with similar facilities is prohibitive. Lawrence Hislop, Communication Manager at REV Ocean, define the opportunity as “The idea is to get developing countries interested in the research work as well, [giving] opportunities to scientists in Africa, Asia, Latin America, who normally wouldn’t be able to [conduct research] on a yacht like this.” This unique funding model means that charterers can directly impact positive change. By chartering REV Ocean, they will be making these research missions possible. However, she will also be available to charter to companies like ours, Voyages & Journeys, looking for an expedition adventure. These independent charters will fund directly the research missions, allowing scientists to undertake pioneering research free of charge. This is a unique opportunity for clients to accompany the research teams, participating in research and observing the work being carried out in front of them. “The main point of having this vessel is to go out and do scientific research work. And the business model is to get people to [charter REV Ocean] and follow the research work and going to beautiful parts of the world." explains Lawrence Hislop, Communication Manager at REV Ocean. REV Ocean is planning to invite up to 400 marine scientists per year to spend three to four weeks each on board studying how to protect the ocean from climate change, overfishing and plastic waste. For the REV Ocean team, “healing the ocean with data” is a core part of their ethos. By allowing the most advanced oceanographic study tools to be accessed by research teams across the globe, the initiative hopes to create a global ocean data platform for the common good. First expeditions to take place When completed, REV Ocean will set sail on her maiden voyage to Svalbard for her first scientific mission in 2021. Then will be setting course to New York in the autumn, in a journey that will coincide with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. It is thought she may be positioned outside the United Nations Headquarters on the East River throughout the course of the event. Heading further south towards clearer oceans of the Caribbean, she will be heading towards the Galapagos archipelago, where opportunities are optimal for studying marine life. This island chain is home to hundreds of fish species, and REV Ocean intents to put her eco-harvesting system for live catch and release of biomass and pelagic samples to good use. She is also expected to head to the Indian Ocean, cruising around the islands of the Seychelles and the Maldives. Part of her hydrographic analysis in this region will be cantered around hydrothermal vents, which are clustered around the Central Indian Ridge between the two archipelagos. Voyages & Journeys will keep you updated on the progress of REV Ocean. If, at any time, you are interested in more information about our expeditions please get in touch with us. - Dolce Vita Esqui
Aventuras Únicas Expedições de Iate Explore Comunicações Sobre Nós EN PT NL Início - Comunicações - Skiing The Dolce Vita Way of Skiing October-2023 Besides being one of our founders’ favourite ski destinations, in January-2023, Jasper Sigon (V&J Co-Founder) returned to the amazing Super Dolomiti Ski region, together with the incredible team from the Alta Badia brand. We created a unique gourmet safari combined with epic skiing. The following narrative is written by Jasper himself to share his own experience and inspire you for the next season. After an energizing breakfast at our accommodation, the marvellous La Majun Hotel, we collected the ski gear and head up the mountain in La Villa. After a good warmup downhill on a black slope, we started skiing from one amazing slope to the other, each with breathtaking views over the Dolomites, and from one hut to the next to taste one of the new dishes from local and internationally renowned chefs, such as Norbert Niederkofler (Executive Chef at Restaurant St.Hubertus at Hotel Rosa Alpina, 3 Michelin-star and 1 green star), and Simone Cantafio (Restaurant La Stüa de Michil at Hotel La Perla, 1 Michelin-star). They brought truly outstanding cuisine to the slopes of Alta Badia at a height of 2.000m, inspired by the best products of the region, based on their own philosophy in the kitchen. True works-of-art will be presented, not only for the palate, but also for the eye. To make it even more awe inspiring, the chefs created their dishes with the focus on reducing waste and protecting our planet. On top of all of that, each dish was accompanied by South Tyrolean wine, chosen by a South Tyrolean sommelier. The next day we headed out very early and went up by snow mobile to have breakfast at 2.000m in the Las Vegas lodge. Witnessing the sun rise against the massif Dolomites is a definitely a memorable view. Afterwards, we were joined by Damian Pallestrong, a local professional slalom, alpine and cross-country skier from Alta Badia. Following a short briefing, we started The Great War Ski Tour, that stretches for 80km, to discover some of the dramatic events of the World War I (WWI). We headed out to Cortina d’Ampezzo to ski the Super 8 & Cinque Torri loop, surrounded by the splendid views of the Col di Lana, the Tofana di Rozes, the Castelletto and the Col dei Bos. Damian explained and showed us the Italian trenches of WWI and how strategical important the Dolomites were, and still are. Did you know that the technical term Alpine Skier originates from the Ladin culture? And today, they are still born alpine and cross-country skiers! We then headed to the heart of the Dolomites, the highest peak in the Alta Badia region, Mount Lagazuoi at 2.732m. On our way up with the cable car, we could clearly see the loopholes of the Italian mine tunnel and the Tre Sassi Fort on the road to the Valparola Pass. When we arrived at the summit, we directly turned right off piste to the the Austrian emplacement Feldwache 4 (FW 4), the only emplacement on the front line of WWI that can be reached on skis. It was dug into the ridge, called Muraglia Rocciosa by the Italians; a rock wall fortified by the Austro-Hungarian soldiers to defend the Lagazuoi saddle. This emplacement is a tunnel dug into the rock with two armored emplacements for machine guns and two embrasures for the observation of the areas Col dei Bos and Castelletto. After this stunning experience we descended to the Armentarola slope to continue with one of the most stunning environments of the Dolomites. The following day, it was time for the “Sommelier on the slopes ski tour”. When we stepped out of the gondola, we met with a ski instructor and professional sommelier. After a short route briefing, we set out from ski hut to ski hut. From top wine to top wine, a true wine ski safari or in Ladin language, De dl Vin. Involving truly mesmerizing skiing on Alta Badia's slopes, combined with the chance to taste South Tyrol's finest wines at the most outstanding mountain huts, such as, Ütia de Bioch, Club Moritzino, Ütia I Tablá, Ütia Las Vegas Lodge, Ütia Lé, Ütia Tamá and Ütia Pic Pré. While enjoying our wines we could admire the Dolomites from our seats. The perfect way to kick off any winter season dedicated to excellent skiing, food and wine in style. - Tempus Magazine
Home - V&J in Press - Tempus Magazine Tempus Magazine January-2023 The passion of travel curators Vanessa and Jasper from Voyages & Journeys surpasses the norm. - Gemma Harris - A journey into Portugal's Alentejo All in the details; a chic stay at the rural Malhadinha Nova with unique travel curators, Voyages & Journeys. The passion of travel curators Vanessa and Jasper from Voyages & Journeys surpasses the norm. Even before meeting them face to face, I could tell they were in it because they genuinely wanted to improve travel experiences. The faultless and compassionate service from the outset reflected their personalities. They accompanied me on my transfer to our destination. The two-hour travel time from Lisbon allowed us to chat about their aim with Voyages and Journeys. The different paths they are taking from others and the values they hold close to help them find their edge in unique and once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences for clients. And for this journey? They were taking me to experience one of their favourites and Portugal's best-kept secret, Alentejo. Driving through Alentejo at sunset made the evocative natural scenery even more so, with pink glistening in between the rolling vineyards and cork farms which seemed to stretch for miles. Sporadically we would encounter a small village where things moved leisurely, and they undoubtedly embraced the slower pace of life. The kind of villages where locals always leave their doors open and unlocked explained Vanessa. A warm welcome Arriving at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova in the evening created even more intrigue that this wild region exuded. The bumpy transfer in one of the estate's characterful jeep defenders did not disappoint. On route through the estate, Jasper explained that it spread over 450 hectares with various houses complete with rooms and suites. Over time the ruins throughout this area have been transformed into luxury accommodations. I was welcomed into one of the estate's 30 rooms within the 'Home of the terracotta.' Artisanal design Waking up to the far-reaching view surrounded by vineyards held promise for the next two days spent on the estate. Finishing up a cappuccino in none other than Vista Alegre crockery and the in-house chef's speciality eggs on the terrace overlooking the pool, I was ready. The tour around the estate highlighted how Malhadinha uses architecture that perfectly complements the area's rurality with modernity. Each house has its own take on the Alentejo culture, filled with various pieces from local artisans. I even had the opportunity to try my hand at a craft while here, taking a bulrush workshop with a local artisan - safe to say my creations won't make it into a room, however insightful and fun all the same. Each interior has its personalised touches, from the handcrafted marble details, and locally crafted furniture to the creative lights made from recycled plastic. Family details Owned by the Soares family, Rita Soares, the CEO, was there pointing out her favourite spots, with even a glimpse into the new under-construction spa area, building yet more for the future on what is already an estate based upon strong family foundations. It is truly all in the details throughout, and you can see this family passion project is authentic, with Rita perfecting every design touch herself, even down to each room's scent. Like all good stories, the Soares family story began with wine, with their project starting with the plantation of the first 20 hectares of vineyards. The tour around Malhadina's wine-making facilities and cellars showed every bottle label drawn by the family's children; the cow by Matilde was my favourite! This charm continued throughout and into the wine-tasting experience. Tasting their complex yet elegant - which today are award-winning - wines confirmed that they had resulted in their dedication to their respectful and sustainable processes. Gastronomic secrets The wines were paired with one of the many farm to table experiences I had here. From the olive groves, orchards, and farms to the vegetable gardens, Malhadinha is rich in quality, organic produce grown using regenerative farming methods. The food truly put the cherry on top, especially the Alentejo black pork on decadent risotto. Or maybe it was the incredible apple tart that almost looked too good to eat. The chefs throughout the estate are true to traditions while putting their gastronomic twists and tweaks on each dish. One of the local Portuguese chefs has been in the family for the past 25 years, adding the best-loved family dishes to the estate's menu. If you fancy getting in the kitchen, you can take lessons at Malhadinha and learn from the best. Anything is possible As well as being introduced to various friendly and welcoming staff members and local artisans in my time here, I also got to meet the other equine family members. They weren't just any horses; these were pure-blood Lusitano horses you can ride throughout the vineyards. Aside from wine tasting and horseback riding, there is plenty to do here. On my stay, I met with Luisa, the guest experience manager and was reassured that pretty much everything and anything was possible at Malhadinha, purely restricted by the guest's imaginations and desires. - Carlo Huisman | Voyages & Journeys
< Vorig Artikel Volgend Artikel > RNAVT 7818 Bedrijf geregistreerd in Portugal Privacybeleid Algemene Voorwaarden > Neem Contact Op info@voyagesjourneys.com +351 917 800 008

- Proef de Wereld als Connaisseurs | Voyages & Journeys
Unieke Avonturen Jacht Expedities Ontdek De Numinous Wie Zijn Wij EN PT NL Home - De Numinous - Proef de Wereld Proef de Wereld als Connaisseurs December-2020 Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling. Ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go. - Marsel van Oosten – A true adventurer | Voyages & Journeys
Home - The Numinous - Marsel van Oosten Marsel van Oosten – A true adventurer April-2021 We all try to preserve some of our great memories through photography. It is no secret to the world that Marsel van Oosten is one of the greatest photographers in the world and recently we had the outstanding opportunity to ask him some questions about his work. Find more about the man behind the lens and get inspired for your next shots. After graduating from the Academy of Arts with a BA in Art Direction and Graphic Design, Dutch-born Marsel van Oosten started a career in advertising. As an Art Director at various renowned agencies, he won numerous awards for his work, amongst which are one silver and two gold Lions at the prestigious International Advertising Festival in Cannes. The acclaimed television commercial for a Dutch nature conservation organization is an excellent representation of both his creative and emotional approach to communication, as well as for his love for the natural world and his concerns in relation to the environment. Marsel’s images are famed for his mastery of composition, lighting, colour, and perspective. In his work he tries to simplify and to get rid of the extraneous – simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. In addition to winning the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of the Year, and International Nature Photographer of the Year (twice), his awards include a First Prize in the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, a First Prize in Nature’s Best International Photography Awards, twice the First Prize in the Travel Photographer of the Year, and several awards in Wildlife Photographer of the Year. His images are featured in galleries and museums, used worldwide in advertising and design, and he is a regular contributor to National Geographic. Where does your passion for photography comes from? I've always been a lover of nature. When I was a kid, I frequently went with my parents into the woods for long walks. At home we often watched films and documentaries about animals. Yet it took a long time before I started taking photography seriously. I didn't like it at art school, so then I ignored the subject. After graduating in graphic design and art direction, I got a job as an art director at a large advertising agency. In the fifteen years that followed, I collaborated extensively with selected photographers to shoot my campaigns. As a result, I was regularly on photo shoots and I learned a lot from that. I also learned to appreciate photography a lot more, and in the end, I bought a camera to take pictures during vacations. I soon found out that my photos weren't very good and I decided to look into it in more detail. Then it became a serious hobby that eventually got completely out of hand. The last three years of my career in advertising I had my own advertising agency which was quite stressful. Nature photography became the way to escape that stress for me. At one point I wondered if I couldn't be a better photographer because it seemed to make me a lot happier. When did you start combining photography with adventure? When my wife and I went on our honeymoon, we opted for a safari in Tanzania. For me that was the first time that I set foot in Africa, and the first time that I photographed wildlife. It made an undeniable impression on me, and from that moment on I was sure that I wanted to make it my job. I knew that would not be easy because fifteen years ago there was not much money to be made in my photography genre. During a brainstorming session with my wife, Daniella, we decided to organize special wildlife photography trips all over the world. At that time, this only happened on a very small scale, so we saw many opportunities there. It turned out to be the right choice because business has been going very well from the beginning of our company. Our starting point has always been that we only do things that make us happy. That has turned out to be a good strategy. When we no longer like a trip, we throw it out, even if it is financially unwise to do so. We both love photography, animals and nature, and travel, so this is the perfect combination for us. What is the most spectacular expedition / travel experience that you ever had? It is difficult to compare journeys because they are all very special in their own way. Our expedition in the Sahara through Algeria, Libya and Chad was really spectacular. I would like to do that again when peace has returned to the region. My most recent expedition to Socotra, Yemen, was also a special experience. Although there is a civil war raging the journey was by no means harmful. What is your dream voyage? In the end I would like to drive an overland truck around the world again, in search of unknown pieces of wilderness. (Now a question everyone wants to know ) What is your perfect camera setup to photograph wildlife? There is no perfect setup because the animals and the circumstances always differ. If animals are very shy, then I need long telephoto lenses, but if they are relaxed, I can sometimes even use a wide-angle lens. In principle, I love to show animals in their natural habitat, with a lot of attention to the beauty that surrounds them. My ideal nature photo is actually a beautiful landscape photo with an animal in it. That means that I prefer to shoot with shorter lenses because then I can show more of the landscape. A 24-70 / 2.8 or a 70-200 / 2.8 are ideal lenses for this. But in practice I mostly use my 180-400 / 4.0 with built-in 1.4x teleconverter for my animal photography. Usually, it is not possible to get close enough to wild animals to use short lenses. Is there anything exciting in the calendar for the future? Absolutely. I am currently working on a new book: MOTHER (a Tribute to Mother Earth). It will be a visual ode to nature and an overview of my best work of the past 15 years. No fewer than 394 pages and 244 photos, so a really bulky book. I've been working on it for over 10 months now, and I'm very happy with the result. It will be available worldwide on April 22. In addition, we had to postpone all our photo trips from 2020 to 2021 and 2022, while those years were almost full. For us, the upcoming two years will be all about non-stop travel and photography with a number of new destinations that we are very much looking forward to. I also have some personal projects in the waiting room, but they will have to stay there for the time being. < Previous Article Next Article >
